Circling the Wagons: Bills v Jets week 1 recap
Starting off the second half with a 3 and out isn't preferable but look who is coming to bail us out again, the defence who keeps rolling gets ANOTHER sack and Jerry Hughes murdered Le'Veon Bell (T's and P's after he didn't come back from an apparent hamstring injury) forcing our old flame Frank Gore to come in. We get the ball back march down the field and have to settle for a Field Goal, enter Tyler Bass drafted from Georgia Southern he beat out Haush-money in camp and seemed poised to be the man after Hauschka missed a few big field goals last year. Welp he's not so hot he stepped up and missed his first attempt wide right and then the Jets move off of that and rip off a 69 (nice) yard run to bring the score to 21-10. But hey it's his first game maybe the second time will be better? nope he again misses another FG. Thankfully for him the defence wakes up again and Jordan Poyer forces a fumble with Jerry Hughes recovering it and the Bills drove down again getting stopped but third time's a charm for Tyler who crushes a 22 yard field goal making it 24-10. Burning the clock down as the 4th winding down Tyler Bass came calling again making a little too close for comfort 19 yard Field Goal to make it a three score game and things look to be coming up Buffalo. A really nothing TD rounded out the game for the Jets bringing the final score to 27-17.
A bit misleading that final score is when you look into the stats because holy shit the Bills dominated this game. Josh Allen had a fucking day becoming the first Bills QB to accumulate over 300 yards since our old pal Tyrod Taylor did it back in 2016, ending the day going 33-46 for 312 yards with 2 passing touchdowns, and 14 carries for 57 yards and running it in all by himself for a TD. Stefon Diggs and John Brown were 1 and 2 in receptions with Diggs netting 8 receptions for 86 yards and John Brown pulling down 6 receptions for 70 yards and a beautiful TD. The rushing game on the other hand was lacking, with Josh Allen leading the charge Singletary and Moss were given 9 carries each with only Zach Moss cashing in on a TD. Hopefully this is just knocking off the rust and we see Devin Singletary back running all over the Dolphins next week. The shining star was obviously the defence, even with Josh Norman out they held the Jets to only 254 total yards of offence with most of that coming from that Jamison Crowder 69 yard TD run. But fuck it we're 1-0 looking like hot shit, lets keep this train rolling on down to Miami next week against the 0-1 Fitzmagical Dolphins.
