The Kinda Good, The Mostly Bad, and The Really Ugly: Bills v Titans week 5 recap

Well I have to say while I didn't expect a 16-0 season I definitely didn't expect our first loss of the year to come to the Covid stricken Tennessee Titans. But it did and it came in what I would call embarrassing fashion losing 42-16 on the first Tuesday Night Football game since 2010.

Going into the game I had high hopes, I mean c'mon we were 4-0, Josh Allen was rolling and so was our defence. But seeing the pregame injury report I knew this wasn't going to be an easy game, with Tre'Davious White and Matt Milano out the defence was going to be at a disadvantage.

I knew that Derrick Henry was going to be an issue and I don't see how we kinda didn't gameplan to contain one of the best backs in the league. Every time the titans had the ball on a third and short there was no way to stop tractorcito from just plowing over the defence. That was shown when he threw Josh Norman out the club, us as Bills fans are just going to have to accept that that picture shown above is going to haunt us for the foreseeable future.

The Red Zone defence was literally non-existent, and when I say literally I mean literally. The Titans took six trips to the red zone and all SIX times they scored a TD. In the Rams game when the defence looked equally as bad they at least got some stops in the red zone to give us a snowball's chance in hell to win. But against the Titans they couldn't even do that, yes they held the titans to a handful of punts but the offence couldn't come anywhere close to capitalizing on those punts.

Now about the offence, this was shades of last year big time. The O-Line couldn't block for shit when the Titans seemed like they were running blitz on 99% of the plays and our guys just couldn't keep up and Josh was feeling that pressure. While i'm ripping into the O-Line what the fuck was up with the 3 False Start penalties in a row when we're trying to get something going down in the 4th, the unwarranted penalties killed and like I said made it really feel like last year.

Now I normally come on here and pump Josh Allens tires, I'll indulge just a little bit because he didn't look god awful. The drops by the Receivers (Andre Roberts) and the lack of an O-Line at times didn't help, but the 2 Interceptions were just killer. The first one was early enough that I thought we could overcome it, the second one was the nail in the coffin on this game. Oh and an obligatory fuck you to Malcom Butler, it wasn't enough to terrorize the bills when he was on the Patriots he had to take his second interception of the night almost all the way back to the house.

It's hard to look forwards to next week with optimism especially when the next game is against the defending super bowl champs and we could barely hold our own against a team that couldn't stop coughing into each others mouths. But Diggs looked good and so did Beasley so let's block this game out of our minds and hope for best come Monday at 5.
