The End : Toronto Blue Jays game 162 recap
Game 162 for all the marbles....
Should the Jays not have gotten swept by the Nats? Yes. Should the Jays not have gone 3-3 against the Tigers when they were vying for the top WC spot? Probably. Should the Jays not have gotten shit pumped by the Twins 3 times coming down the stretch? Absolutely.
But those all unfortunately happened leaving the Jays on the outside looking in and their fate in the hands of the Nationals, Rays, and Angels. While leaving us the fans looking like Charlie from It's Always Sunny connecting the dots for a 1 Game WC birth.
The Jays came out hot and the bats were on fire going up 9-1 on a George Springer grand slam, while the Rays and Yanks were deadlocked at 0-0, the Mariners were down to the Angels, and the Red Sox were down 3-1 to the Nats.
The Jays close out game 162 strong killing the poor O's 12-4, with homers from Springer, Semien, and my king Vladdy Jr if this was going to be it at least they gave us a show to remember. All eyes went to the Yankees v Rays game, that scumbag woman beater Aroldis Chapman shut down the Rays in the top of the 9th leaving our fate with Andrew Kitteredge.
The Rays unfortunately lose on a single by Aaron Judge, I've seen people on twitter giving Kevin Cash shit but I'll give him some props. He put the best line up out and used his best pitchers when he could've easily mailed it in and coasted into the playoffs. With the Rays dead all eyes went to the Nationals v Red Sox game.
Remember when I said the Nats were up 3-1? They actually went up 5-1 before shitting down their legs and letting the Sox tie the game back up 5-5 going into the 9th inning. All we needed was for the Nats to hang on and get to the bottom of the 9th but that piece of shit Jordy Mercer drops the easiest ball of all time to get Schwarber on base leaving Devers to crush a homer ending all hopes for the Blue Jays to make the playoffs.....
I want to be cheery and hopeful but this isn't the blog for that (I'll have a happier season recap coming soon) I'm just sad man. This team was so much fun, even when Brad Hand and Tyler Chatwood were blowing games and Randal Grichuk was popping up with the bases loaded. We'll be back next year with a full home slate in Toronto with Marcus Semien and Robbie Ray (hopefully) back in the Blue and White
